We are Jerry and Cathi Von, Backcountry Fly Shop owners, longtime Corvallis residents and avid outdoors-people and fly fishers. We want to promote fly fishing through classes, special events and exceptional customer service! Fly fishing is something that everyone can enjoy and we are here to help you with all your fishing needs! We are located in Corvallis, Oregon, midway between Salem and Eugene, just 10 miles off I-5. We are surrounded by a plethora of great fishing waters! Backcountry Fly Shop's classes includes: Beginning Fly Fishing (learn the basic knowledge you need to go fly fishing! Instruction includes: casting, knots, equipment, and entomology); On the Water Basics (get hands on fly fishing instruction and experience on the water at Roaring Springs Trout Camp. Learn casting, reading the water, fly selection, presentation, line management. Four hours on the water at a private stocked fishery); Intermediate Moving Water (drift the McKenzie River for a day and take your fishing to the next level with on the water instruction for moving water. Learn where the fish are, what fish eat, fly presentation, line management, dead-drifting flies, wade fishing and fishing from a drift boat); The “How To” Series (discover some specialized techniques to enhance your fly fishing experience, or just come to learn and have fun! No previous experience necessary); Beginning Fly Tying (discover what fly tying is all about! Learn the basic techniques and tools to get started in fly tying. No previous experience necessary.
